We are often asked what we get out of being a member of a speakers’ club and there are so many benefits that immediately spring to mind.  Whatever you are looking for in your personal development, chances are you’ll achieve it through active membership.

Testimonials

“I now approach interviews with confidence. I know I’ve prepared a strong presentation and that I can cope with the unexpected questions. Thank you, I got that job.” MS

“I’m gutted that I can’t attend meetings any longer, but I’ve been promoted to a regional director role and am travelling too much – all thanks to the skills and confidence I gained at the club. Thank you!” HG

“I joined to gain confidence in standing up to give a talk in order to build my business. Now I’m so happy speaking that I wonder why others don’t grab the opportunity! I’ve almost forgotten that I was there once. All thanks to Toastmasters and the support of fellow members.” AB

How does it work?

Two sources of learning:

  1. Access the Pathways learning experience online. There is guidance for each speech project and additional resources on public speaking to browse in your own time.
  2. Participate in the club’s meetings.  The best way to become an accomplished speaker is to do it!  The more stage time you have, the more you speak in public, the more feedback you get, and the more you learn and grow.

Additionally, you learn by observing others and analysing the quality of what they do to understand what makes for an effective speech. You will also learn that there is not ‘one way’, but speakers develop effective styles that work for them and the purpose of their talks.
