Contest season – Humour and Impromptu Speaking

Twice a year we are excited to hold club contests and experience top quality speeches. In the autumn it is the Humorous Speech and table Topics contests, and we are well entertained by our contestants.

This year we were laughing out loud at graffiti on the walls of toilets and the challenges of IT for a non-techie person. Our winner is Sheila Hamilton-Andrews and she goes on to compete in the Area 21 contest.

The Table Topics contest is about impromptu speaking. Contestants have to respond to a topic provided by the contest chair and this year Jacqui Hogan asked, ‘Who would you like to have a bath with, and why?’ What a thought! Plenty of humour in the responses as contestants revealed more about themselves than we’d heard before. Sheila was on form that night and won the Table Topics contest too!

Very well done Sheila and best of luck in the Area contest!
