Animal Antics

With just one more club meeting to go before the end of the year, I can only reflect on what a tumultuous year this has been! I suspect, like me, you be quite glad to welcome o new year – 2021.

Our last meeting on 25th November was as enjoyable as ever, with two speakers and the usual array of entertaining impromptu speakers and feedback. Maria entertained us with her storytelling skills , telling us all about her ‘experiment’. While Ade gave a sizzling speech about when , why and how to eat steak. We were all quite hungry by the time she finished! This was followed by a mammoth Table Topics session, which yielded not one, not two, but three winners! Congratulations go to Ann, Paul and David. Well done to Sahib too, for coming up with so many quotes and topics for the speakers. The feedback session was both useful and thought provoking, and well done to Bindu for snatching the prize from an excellent field of evaluators. The meeting overall was raised to new levels of hilarity by the theme of ‘animal antics’. We had stuffed penguins, bears and other as yet unidentified animals, plus two very lively dogs. Even our 3 guests entered into the spirit of things!

In other news, Ann announced that Jacqui had won the Division J Table Topics contest and will now be in the District Final next May.

The next club meeting is on 9th December, with the theme of ‘Christmas Jumpers’. All Christmas gear is welcome – the sparklier, the better. We will also be raising a glass (and mince pie) or two during the break. Sadly, this is bring-your-own.
